The owner’s argument
Memory is what makes a character yours. The running jokes, the preferences, the history you never have to repeat: what a Vizling remembers about you is the product. It belongs to you, not to us.
The short version: we hold it, you own it, and the door opens from the inside.
01The inventory
No black box, no mystique. Three kinds of memory, where each one lives, and what you can do about each. This table is the whole list.
| What is remembered | Where it lives | Yours to |
|---|---|---|
| Conversations with charactersWhat you and a character have said to each other, so a chat picks up where it left off instead of starting over. | Saved to your account. Web chats keep roughly the most recent sixty turns per character; older ones fall away. | Read, download, delete. |
| The characters you buildLooks, voices, personalities, backstories. Every dial you set stays set. | Your account on the character platform, the same account the iOS app uses. | Edit, download, delete. |
| Preferences and opt-insYour settings, your profiles, and anything you said yes to, like the newsletter. | Your account settings. The newsletter list holds exactly one thing: the email you confirmed. | Change, download, withdraw. |
Retention windows and the full provider list live in the privacy policy.
02The door
You are not locked in. If you change providers someday, build your own thing, or want something Vizlings does not support, your memory goes with you. Once you are signed in, you can download everything we hold about you, in formats a machine can read and another product can import.
We have been chatbot users ourselves. We have watched platforms change under people: a model swapped out, a memory wiped, a character someone spent a year with turned back into a stranger overnight. We would rather earn the stay than block the door.
